Visit of  Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto (Pallanza)

Sunday April 25th , 08.45 - 13.00

Meeting point : Palazzo dei Congressi di Stresa at 08.45

In 1931 the Scottish capt. Neil McEacharn decided to buy the land and transform it in an English Garden Style.
Thousands of plants, brought  from all over the world, many of them rare and unique in Europe, were planted in his garden, named Villa Taranto.
The botanical richness of Villa Taranto’s gardens consist of nearly 1,000 non-native plants and around 20,000 different varieties of plants with particular botanical importance.
From the romantic Valletta to the carpets of Heather, from the glass houses with “Victoria Amazonica” to the Azalea, Marple, Rhododendron and Camelia avenues, from the gardens of Dahlias with more than 300 varieties to the myriad hues of spring blooms, with the background of the Italian Garden or in the yellow glow of autumn, Villa Taranto rewards the visitor with endless scenes of changing beauty.
The Villa, that gives name to the gardens, is not open to the public, since it is used as seat of the Prefecture of the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola.

Guests will depart from Stresa by private motorboat, sailing through the Borromean Gulf till the botanical gardens of Villa Taranto. After the visit there will be the possibility of a short stop in the typical town of Pallanza, before returning to Stresa by boat.
