Dear Colleagues and Friends,
We are pleased to be able to update you on the progress of planning the next meeting, which will be the Fifth ICTHIC.
The success of the previous four ICTHIC conferences, which have been held every other year, beginning in 2001, in Bergamo, Italy, and the continued growth of good science (both basic and clinical) and interest in this important subject (thrombosis and hemorrhage in malignancy), have prompted us to convene again, but this time in a new venue. Indeed, for the next meeting, there will be two important changes.
First, the date of the Conference has been moved approximately 6 months forward, from autumn, 2009, to the spring of 2010. This decision was made to avoid conflict with the Congress of the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), held in Boston, USA, in late summer 2009, and therefore, respond to the many individuals who asked us to move our meeting to the off year of the ISTH Congress meetings.
Second, the location of the Conference will move, for the first time, from the traditional venue of Bergamo to Stresa, on the Lake Maggiore. Stresa is a beautiful small town on the shore of the Lake, very charming and attractive, particularly at spring time!
We hope these two changes will add further to the ambiance for the meeting and promote a fruitful scientific discussion. As always, the principal goal of this special meeting is foster new collaborations in a friendly atmosphere and a relaxed environment.
The website of the meeting is www.icthic.com
We look forward to seeing you in 2010!
The Conference Chairmen
Anna Falanga Benjamin Brenner Frederick R. Rickles
