After the first four editions that were held in Bergamo, in 2010 ICTHIC Congress moved to Stresa for the 5th edition. Although the very successful meeting in 2010, in Stresa, on Lake Maggiore, the overwhelming request from the participants was to go back to Bergamo.

The city of Bergamo is located in Northern Italy, 50 kilometers from Milan, in the borderland between the great plain of the Po Valley and the Alps.
Bergamo was founded on a hill by an ancient settlement in the prehistorical age, which gave it the configuration that still characterizes the oldest part of the town, enclosed within walls up on the hill, while the modern town has grown on the plain. Celts, Goths, Romans, Longbards resided on the hill, but little can now be seen of them; some of the most important monuments date back to the Middle Ages. The town reached its greatest splendor during the Renaissance when it became part of the Milan Signoria and then of the Venetian Republic. The four centuries under the Venetians were the most significant with respect to their cultural and historical impact on the city.
Città Alta, the old town situated on the hill and surrounded by sixteenth-century walls, has maintained the charm of its past over the centuries, with the magic and quiet atmosphere of its belfries, towers and squares. Città Bassa, the modern town, has all the conveniences of a modern urban center. Thus, Bergamo is the town where old and new come together in a harmonious expression of life.
